Brock Micklow is a watercolor artist based in Negaunee in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where he lives with his wife.
Art and design has always been his passion, fostered by the guidance of his grandmother (who was also an accomplished artist specializing in oil painting) who introduced him to plein air painting at a young age. He furthered his artistic education by attending the art Institute in San Miguel de Allende and the Colorado Rocky Mountain School. His Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Michigan University has also enhanced his design and artistic skills.
Growing up in Upper Michigan, he developed a profound appreciation for both the serene beauty of the landscapes and the awe-inspiring power of nature's wrath, often witnessed in the storms over Lake Superior.
Brock possesses a keen eye for detail and a deep respect for craftsmanship. His expertise is the result of more than three decades spent as a cabinetmaker and woodworker while owning a custom cabinet business. These elements shine through in his art.
With a love for open water, Brock has spent years sailing Lake Superior and beyond. These adventures have inspired the nautical themes prevalent in his paintings.
These experiences are translated into his work, often painting in a loose and abstract style, and capturing the essence and energy of the scenes. Each piece tells a story, inviting viewers to fill in the details and creating a unique and personal connection to his art.
Visitors are invited to explore his website and join him on this creative journey. Brock hopes that his art resonates with his viewers.
